One Hour Challenge
What could you do with one intentional hour this week?
Is there something you’ve been putting off?
Or maybe there’s something important coming up that needs your attention?
What if you set aside just one hour to tackle it?
Take a moment to think—what would you choose to focus on? And how would you begin?
For me, there are several projects I’ve been meaning to start. One of the most pressing is helping to organise my mum’s 80th birthday celebrations. It’s approaching fast (it is in October) and it’s been quietly occupying space in my mind for a while now. So that’s where I’m going to spend my hour.
Now, I’m fully aware I won’t get everything done in that one hour. But starting is what matters. Once I take the first step, momentum will follow.
One idea my siblings and I have is to create a photo book for Mum. So far, we haven’t made any progress on it. My first small action? Do some online research—find a company we like, check out the prices, and share the info with my siblings. Once we agree on a company, we can begin gathering photos and stories we want to include. But the important part is using that one hour to simply get going.
By starting now, I’ve given myself time to do this well - without last-minute stress or rushed decisions. We’ll have the space to choose the best images and come up with heartfelt (and funny!) captions to make it really special.
So often, we put projects aside, big or small. We procrastinate. We overthink. But when we ask ourselves, “What’s the very first step I can take?” and block out a single hour to do it, it becomes much more manageable. Once we begin, everything starts to flow.
So I invite you:
What will you spend your hour on?
What task has been lingering in your mind, waiting for a first step?
